The aromas of juicing fresh tart citrus always light up my heart! I use limes as well as lemons, or even. a mixture of the two. Sometimes I zest the lemons or limes before I halve and juice them and then freeze the grated/zested peel for use in cookies and cakes and muffins.

This lemon squeezing bowl is a kitchen treasure for me. My friend Debbie found it in an antique shop years ago and gave it to me, knowing I would put it to work, not just keep it on a shelf getting dusty!
Here’s a recipe for this heirloom dessert, from the King Arthur Baking website, a source I treasure. More pix and notes to come! Meanwhile, let me know in the comments whether you’ve made it before and whether you love it as I do!

McDermott and Pie are two words that just go together. My dream? To spend a week in the kitchen with the two of you just making dozens of pies (and eating them). I love lemon pie but do you know I have never made a lemon meringue pie? This one with the McDermott signature on it is now calling my name…
Hahahaha So kind of you. My dream too — Pie Party Out of Bounds, France or USA, East Coast or West. We’ll have the lemon meringue ready for you when you make your first NC visit.
